Easyjet fly direct from London Stanstead to Asturias airport. Ryanair fly direct from Dublin and London Stanstead to Santander airport. Very cheap fares are available with these airlines. Both these airports are about an hour and a half drive from the house.  Iberia fly direct from London Heathrow to Bilbao, about a two hour drive away, and both Iberia and British Airways sell indirect flights to all local airports from a range of UK airports.

Vehicle rental is available from all these airports, and the cheapest tariffs can usually be found by clicking on the car hire link on the Easyjet and Ryanair websites.

If you prefer you could bring your own transport and travel to Spain by ferry. There are crossings available from P&O ferries from Portsmouth to Bilbao, and Brittany Ferries sail from Plymouth to Santander.
